Where we work

Landscaping and gardening in Cringleford

Cringleford is about two miles from our yard in Eaton, over the Yare. It is one of the closest places we work and a regular part of our maintenance round.

Gardens in Cringleford

The village has two quite different halves from a gardening point of view. Around the old centre and the church the plots are established, with mature trees, hedges that have been there decades and borders that need someone who knows what to cut back and when. The newer developments off Round House Way are the opposite problem: young gardens, thin topsoil and a lot of blank space waiting for a plan.

New-build gardens in particular tend to need work before they need planting. Turf laid over compacted subsoil will sit wet all winter, and levels are often left rough once the site fencing comes down. Getting the ground right first is unglamorous and it is the difference between a garden that establishes and one that struggles.

Getting to you At roughly two miles, Cringleford is close enough for weekly and fortnightly maintenance visits as well as one-off projects. It is one of the few places we can genuinely call in at short notice.

  • “We were so happy to find Danny at Bowen’s via Bark… His prices seem very fair and our patios now look 100 times better. He arrived on the dot of 9am this morning as promised and both men worked really hard to finish the job before dark.”

Frequently asked questions

Questions from Cringleford customers

01. Our garden is a new build and nothing grows well. What is wrong with it?

Usually the soil, not the planting. On new developments the topsoil layer is often thin and the ground underneath has been compacted by machinery, so water sits and roots cannot get down. Breaking up the compaction and adding depth before planting fixes far more than replacing plants does.

02. Do you do regular maintenance in Cringleford or only bigger jobs?

Both. Cringleford is close enough to our base that it works on a regular round, so weekly or fortnightly grass, hedges and borders are straightforward here. Further out we tend to be doing projects instead of routine visits.

03. How quickly could you come and look at a job?

Usually quickly, because it is a few minutes from us, not a trip. Quote visits are free and there is no obligation afterwards. Ring or send your postcode and we will arrange a time.
